F10 N55 Stage 2 Behind the Grill Intake

Your N55's factory airbox is feeding your single-scroll turbo hot, restrictive air that kills boost efficiency and throttle bite. This Stage 2 behind-the-grille system relocates your air filter to the coldest spot in the engine bay — directly behind the kidney grilles where ambient air runs 15-20°F cooler.

Engineered specifically for the N55's single-turbo architecture, this complete intake eliminates the factory bottlenecks and delivers the dense, cold air your turbo needs to spool aggressively. The relocated filter position maximizes pressure differential while the smooth aluminum tubing reduces turbulence from the restrictive factory accordion sections.

Installation & Supporting Mods

This is a purpose-built performance intake that requires hands-on mechanical work and familiarity with the engine bay. It is not a drop-in OEM replacement. The stock inlet must be removed first, and silicone couplers can be clocked to different angles for proper routing — this is intentional and by design.

An experienced BMW DIYer should plan for 3-4 hours. If you are less familiar with working in the turbo area, allow more time and review the install guides first. Install video guides are available online and linked in your order confirmation — review them before starting.
